Having a booth at the Art At The Park–This is the Place Monument in Salt Lake City, my hands and mind needed something to do and I thought it would be cool for people coming through the art show to be able to watch an artist actually at work. I set up my plein air rig, and quickly completed this little painting. It was a lot of fun! I painted it from a photo I had taken during one of my first times participating in the Driggs Plein Air competition in Teton Valley, Idaho a bunch of years ago. There were many wildfires to the west that year, and the air was smoky during the day with dramatically lurid sunsets in the evenings.
