En Plein Air
"En plein air" is just French for painting on location, outdoors. You've got to make quick, accurate composition, values, and color decisions because the scene changes in just minutes as clouds race overhead and the sun moves across the sky. Exciting, stressful–chasing the light, as it were–and a whole lot of fun!
In the Studio
The safer way to create...with plenty of time to make the critical decisions about
design and composition, values, depth, color, contrast, etc.
Drawings & such...
Studio and plein air sketches and renderings in graphite, ink, crayons(!), etc...
a change from oils and watercolors, just to keep things interesting.
