This is the view that grabbed my attention, looking northwest from Hwy. 24 into Capitol Reef, toward the freshly snow-capped Thousand Lakes Mountain. Painted for the annual "Arts and the Park–Light on Capitol Reef" plein air competition put on by the Entrada Institute and the Utah Watercolor Society. This was also the first time I had tried these archival watercolor-treated linen panels made by Fredrix, and oh boy–painting on these panels is way different and a lot harder than just staining some Arches paper with watercolor paint! Sure can't complain about the location, though–Capitol Reef National Park is an incredible place for artists!
